Phlogopite Mica Tube

Phlogopite mica tube is produced by wrapping phlogopite mica paper with silicone resin as the binder, then curing the roll under heat and pressure. The result is a rigid, round insulating tube with 700 ℃ continuous service rating and 1000 ℃ intermittent rating — the highest in the Rongtai mica tube family.

The tube is used where a fixed-shape insulation channel is required: motor windings, electric furnace electrode supports, arc-furnace hardware and metallurgy industry equipment. It contains no asbestos and releases less smoke and odour under heating than traditional insulation tubes.

Types
R-5461-P · High temperature grade

Phlogopite Mica Tube

The high-temperature option. Phlogopite mica paper keeps its dielectric layer at higher temperatures than muscovite, so this is the grade specified for furnaces, metallurgy equipment and motors that run hot.

Muscovite Mica Tube

The standard general-purpose option. Muscovite mica paper delivers the same dielectric performance and mica content at a lower continuous service temperature, and it is the cost-effective choice for standard motor and appliance insulation.

Properties

What the Tube Delivers

Benefits
℃

Excellent high temperature resistance

700 ℃ continuous and 1000 ℃ intermittent service for the phlogopite grade. Heat loss below 1% at 500 ℃ and below 2% at 700 ℃ per IEC 60371-2.

kV

Excellent insulation performance

Dielectric strength above 1.5 kV/mm and insulation resistance around 10¹⁶ Ω·cm at 23 ℃. Stable barrier layer for fixed-shape electrical equipment.

N

High mechanical strength

Density 1.6–2.2 g/cm³ with high radial compressive strength. The tube does not deform under motor winding loads or electrode support pressure.

pH

Stable chemical properties

Excellent resistance to acid, alkali and oil with good ageing resistance. Withstands long-term exposure to industrial atmospheres and lubricants.

Eco

No asbestos, low smoke

The formulation contains no asbestos and releases less smoke and odour than traditional insulation materials, even under heating. UL94 V-0 flame rating.

Ø

Precise dimensions and roundness

Smooth inner and outer walls with good roundness and proportionality. Tolerances held to upper ID / lower OD by default, or down to ±0.2 mm on request.

FAQ

Buyer Questions

Support
Q1

What is the difference between phlogopite mica tube and muscovite mica tube?

Both use the same construction — mica paper wrapped with silicone resin — and both carry mica content around 85% with dielectric strength above 1.5 kV/mm. The difference is the mica paper: phlogopite runs to 700 ℃ continuous / 1000 ℃ intermittent, while muscovite runs to 500 ℃ continuous / 800 ℃ intermittent. Choose phlogopite for furnaces and metallurgy equipment; choose muscovite for standard motor and appliance insulation. See Muscovite Mica Tube for the standard grade.

Q2

What lengths and diameters are available?

Standard lengths run 10 mm, 20 mm, 50 mm, 100 mm, 300 mm, 500 mm up to 1100 mm. Standard diameters run 8 mm, 10 mm, 15 mm, 50 mm, 100 mm, 200 mm up to 300 mm. Custom lengths and diameters are produced to drawing, with wall thickness set for each size.

Q3

How precise are the inner and outer diameters?

Default production uses upper tolerance for inner diameter and lower tolerance for outer diameter — this gives a consistent fit on standard winding mandrels. On request, tolerances can be controlled within 0.2 mm for precision assembly.

Q4

Which applications is phlogopite mica tube used for?

Motor winding insulation, electric furnace electrode supports, arc-furnace hardware, metallurgy industry equipment and any application where a fixed-shape insulating channel is required at high temperature. The tube is also used as electrical insulation in appliances and industrial control gear.

Q5

Does the tube contain asbestos, and what is the flame rating?

No asbestos is used in the formulation. The tube carries a UL94 V-0 flame rating per UL94 test procedure and produces less smoke and odour than traditional insulation materials under heating.
